Holiday Wishes Come True for 600 Children
There were smiles, there was laughter, and there were tears of happiness at the Christmas in Cordova event on Sunday, December 15.
For the ninth year in a row, RCPD and the Rancho Cordova Police Activities League (PAL) hosted the event to make wishes come true for 600 local children in need this holiday season by providing Christmas gifts and food.
The event featured a “shopping mall,” where parents of children aged newborn to 17 selected gifts for their children with the help of their own personal shopper. Then, each parent entered the toy-wrapping room where volunteers helped wrap gifts so they could be put under the tree. Finally, the families enjoyed photos with Santa and picked up a food box.
“Our officers look forward to Christmas in Cordova each holiday season,” said Sergeant Rich Merideth. “While we give back to families in need throughout the year, this event in particular allows us to serve our community and show how much we care by providing local children with Christmas gifts.”
The community donated gifts, wrapping supplies and food to Christmas in Cordova, and volunteered alongside RCPD and Rancho Cordova PAL at the event. This holiday season is going to be even brighter for these children and families, thanks to the community’s partnership.
