Infrastructure Enhancement Projects Continue in Rancho Cordova
You’ve probably seen the orange cones and digital signage that reads “Road Work Ahead.” That’s because the Public Works team at the City of Rancho Cordova is working on several projects to further enhance the city’s existing infrastructure:
Highway 50 and Zinfandel Drive Interchange Improvements
Construction on the Highway 50 and Zinfandel Drive Interchange Improvements Project is coming to an end. This project added an additional lane on Zinfandel Drive over Highway 50, modified the highway entrance and exit ramps, added bicycle lanes and modified traffic signals. This project will improve operations, alleviate congestion and provide safer routes for drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians on Zinfandel Drive from White Rock Road to Olson Drive.
Folsom Boulevard Beautification and Enhancement
The final phase of the Folsom Boulevard Beautification and Enhancement Project, Phase V, is underway. The project will enhance Folsom Boulevard from Bradshaw Road to Horn Road and from Kilgore Road to Sunrise Boulevard. This will include landscaped medians, new sidewalks, streetscape improvements at intersections, drainage facilities and new streetlights. Construction began in February and the project is expected to be completed in Fall 2020.
Sunrise Boulevard Rehabilitation
The Sunrise Boulevard Rehabilitation Project began in Spring 2020 and is anticipated to be completed by Fall 2020. This project will renovate Sunrise Boulevard between Folsom Boulevard and White Rock Road. Project improvements will include resurfacing the roadway, rehabilitating the landscaping, improving ADA access, shared use paths, bike lanes, striping and traffic signal modifications. The project is designed to continue to improve transportation, accessibility and safety for drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians traveling in the area.
These and many other projects make Rancho Cordova a great place to live, work, learn and play. Find these updates and more at CityofRanchoCordova.org/CurrentProjects and sign up for our e-newsletter at CityofRanchoCordova.org/ENews.
